The Story of

No Straight Answer

In 2005, friends and founding members Rob Wilson, Julius Ingram, Domieka Cantey, Darron Thomas, and Bluford Thompson

found themselves constantly being invited to perform at events throughout Greensboro, North Carolina.

During one particular engagement, a promoter asked a simple question: “What’s the name of the band?”

Ironically, the group had never officially planned on becoming a band, so they were caught without an answer. In a spontaneous moment, Darron Thomas replied, “No Straight Answer,” because at the time, they truly didn’t have a straight answer for what the band should be called.

That unexpected response became the official name — and the beginning of something special.

The rest, as they say, is history.
